Data Workers Union
Initiative and Campaign
DWU
Initiated in The Hague, Netherlands. With iterations in Buenos Aires, Venice, Łódź, Berlin, Düsseldorf.
The data that we produce is a resource already extracted by companies like Google and Facebook, producing vast amounts of capital. Why aren't we, the data workers, gaining ownership over our production?
This new form of production transforms our everyday life into a constant working shift, at the same time, the production of data increasingly controls more and more aspects of our life. We as citizens demand control over it.
In 2017 we founded the first Data Workers Union to demand an end to the limitless exploitation of our production of data, and to organise and fight to gain control over its ownership.
